The Original Cariboo Stirrups are the original creation of Henry Loiseau and his wife Yoka and family. They make their home at 108 Mile Ranch in the heart of the Cariboo country of British Columbia, Canada. Henry grew up in France, studying woodworking and furniture making. A few years ago Henry decided to make a pair of stirrups for his younger daughter. After many trials and errors, and using his many years of experience in woodworking, Henry created a hardwood veneer laminated stirrup of great strength and great beauty. A combination of local and exotic hardwoods such as: maple, walnut,
alder, oak, African and Honduras mahogany, Macassar ebony, Hawaiian
koa, Indian rosewood; are used in the making of these unique stirrups.
The sides are finished with wood inlay, silver conchos, silver and gold
conchos, brass conchos, solid brass diamonds, silver bars, abalone conchos,
turquoise conchos, silver and hardwood letter initials. Rollers are either brass, chrome or stainless steel. Thread covers are made of latigo leather 7 to 11 oz. in burgundy, natural tan, black, brown colors. Thread laces are of the same leather. See what these satisfied customers have to say: "I was looking for something new to give to our year end rodeo winners in Washington. I left the design up to Henry and he came up with wonderful stirrups. All the winners in each event loved them. Henry is an outstanding craftsman" -Janet O' Neil . Will Clinging who runs "Results Through Respect" as a horse trainer and clinician in British Columbia commented "The attention to details and workmanship is exceptional in Cariboo stirrups. They are as functional as they are eye catching. The threads are comfortable and they are large enough to fit my winter boots ". Henry shows his stirrups at many horse events in BC and Alberta, including The Slide-Out-West in Chilliwack, British Columbia; and the Cowboy Festival in Kamloops and the Abbotsford Rodeo in British Columbia.
